A woman has been disqualified from driving after causing a crash on a busy north-east road.
Adenike Onyia overtook a lorry on the A92 Inverbervie to Montrose road, not realising another vehicle was travelling towards her on the opposite carriageway.
Despite both cars trying to break and pull into the side, Onyia was unable to avoid the oncoming traffic and crashed into motorist Kim Thain.
Yesterday the 35-year-old appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court and admitted driving dangerously on October 8 last year by crossing over solid white lines onto the wrong side of the road.
Representing, solicitor Gregor Kelly said his client was not familiar with that part of the road and that she had been stuck behind the lorry at a slow speed for some time.
He said she was normally a very careful driver and she accepts that her actions could have been “catastrophic”.
Sheriff William Taylor fined Onyia, of 6 West Park Grove, Inverbervie, £1,000 and banned her from the roads for a year.
