Two nursery support workers have been issued with a formal warning after being caught sending inappropriate messages about the children they worked with.
Hannah Reid and Serena Rae also exchanged offensive messages about their colleagues at St Swithins Nursery in Aberdeen.
The pair admitted their misconduct when the case went before the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), and have now both been given an 18-month warning on their registration.
Between September and November 2014, the pair exchanged messages on online messaging service Whatsapp about two toddlers, passing comment that one had been “circumcised”.
They also admitted making inappropriate comments about their colleagues.
Both support workers admitted the two charges against them, which were deemed a breach of their responsibility to maintain the dignity of both the youngsters and colleagues. They were also a breach of their employer’s social media policy.
The SSSC ruled their conduct could have led to a “risk of harm to service users, their carers and or families, and to your colleagues”.
However, the panel acknowledged it was an “isolated” incident and that the women had undergone training, and were continuing to work.
They added: “You have demonstrated regret and remorse for your behaviour.”
