A fundraising campaign to bring a forgotten Aberdeen city centre park back to life is to be launched.
Youngsters could soon be enjoying a new play area, outdoor gym and stage at Skene Park.
The Skene Park Project has already secured £60,000 for the scheme, which will cover the cost of play equipment, fencing and a path.
But now the group is preparing to launch a crowdfunding campaign to raise another £150,000 to pay for the rest of their plans, which have already been approved by the city council.
Dustin Macdonald, chairman of the city centre community council which is driving the project, said: “We’re now at a stage where we are almost good to go, we just need the money.
“The first thing we will do is launch a crowdfunding project and we’re in the process of building one now.
“The city centre doesn’t really get big multi-generational projects, they’re usually for commercial purposes.
“This is a space that was barren, it’s a large space opposite a school right in the heart of the city centre.
“To have that space, which was derelict and unusable, turned into a space which is aesthetically pleasing and already being used is brilliant.”
The project is attempting to source further funding via grants and fundraisers, with those involved envisioning an inclusive city centre space used by all generations.
