Enterprising primary school pupils have been raising cash for charity Scottish Flood Forum.
Primary seven pupils at Westhill Primary have set up Flood Fighters, their own enterprise company aimed at gathering funds for local flood victims.
To raise the cash, the youngsters decided to organise an Easter fair.
After being assigned various positions within the business, they were given a £100 bank loan to help with the running of the fair.
They organised an array of activities, including guess the bunny’s birthday and ‘splat the bunny’ – a game involving the soaking of teachers.
And they were lucky enough to receive a number of donations from local businesses, including a signed football from Aberdeen FC, to help with the fundraising efforts.
Their efforts paid off, and they managed to turn over a £1,732 profit for Scottish Flood Forum.
Teacher Karen Downie said: “I was very impressed by the children’s energy and commitment.
“As a school we raise lots of money for charity and it was nice to concentrate our efforts on helping people living locally.
“The lead up to the fair was exhausting but the children pulled out all the stops and I never dreamed they would raise so much money.”
The money is expected to go towards those in Ballater and Inverurie who fell victim to severe flooding earlier this year. The pupils will present a cheque to Scottish Flood Forum at a school assembly on Thursday.
