This artist’s impression shows how a derelict Aberdeen site could be transformed into a housing and retail complex.
The development, which would consist of student flats and shops, would be built on a site on King Street, next to the Bobbin Mill pub.
Earlier this week, West Coast Estates (WCE) held a public exhibition at Aberdeen Sports Village to give people the chance to view the scheme and share their views.
Iftikar Mian, director at the firm, thanked those who attended the consultation event.
He said: “I am delighted that so many people from the local community took the time to view our proposals and importantly provide us with valuable feedback.
“It is clear from this early feedback that the design and landscaping proposed is warmly welcomed and would fundamentally clean up a site that many see as an eyesore. There was also real appreciation for delivering student accommodation in such an enviable location across from the university and one that has excellent connectivity into the city centre and beyond.”
The proposals would include between 90 and 100 beds, as well as three retail units.
The project would also include a dedicated garden space for students.
If approved, the development would also be managed round the clock with security measures in place to safeguard the occupants.
Developers say the plans would mean significant investment to transform what is currently a derelict site.
There are currently about 10 student developments, consisting of upwards of 1,500 beds, either under way or on the table across the city.
Last year, the then Aberdeen Central MSP Kevin Stewart called for a moratorium on the schemes in the Granite City.
WCE expects to be in a position to submit a formal application to Aberdeen City Council in early June.
The firm has also submitted plans for a drive-through coffee shop at a vacant office site on Abbotswells Road, which would be run by Costa Coffee.
