A north-east charity is urging hardy fundraisers to sign up for its inaugural raft race.
Inspire has teamed up with the Banchory and District Round Table to organise a raft race on Knockburn Loch, near Strachan.
The event, which will be held on September 4, is open to local groups, organisations and companies.
Teams will be challenged to navigate a course around the loch on their homemade rafts, which will be made out of reclaimed goods such as wooden pallets and plastic drums.
As well as the opportunity to be crowned 2016 Raft Race Champions, there will also be prizes on the day for the best raft and the best dressed crew. There will also be a barbecue and family activities.
Andrew Reid, community fundraiser with Inspire, said: “Knockburn Loch is a fantastic venue and we are looking forward to what we believe will be a fun-filled and action-packed event.
“The funds raised through the event will allow us to continue to provide our services to the more than 400 local people across the north-east that we currently support and we are hopeful, therefore, that the local community will get behind the event in a positive manner.”
Gregor Scott, from Banchory and District Round Table, said: “We’re very excited to be able to assist Inspire with what we are sure will be a great event.
“Raft races are always good fun and this will also be a great way to raise money to support the important work the charity does.”
Entry is £10 per person and teams are being asked to raise a minimum of £100 in sponsorship. For an entry form, e-mail raft.race@inspiremail.org.uk or for more information call 01224 280005.
