The sound of classic motors filled the Buchan air yesterday as dozens of vintage vehicles trundled around the region’s roads.
The day marked both the annual Buchan Vintage Tractor run charity event and Drive It Day at Aden Park.
A cavalcade of historic farm machines toured the rural back roads for the 16th annual run which has raised more than £80,000 since it began.
The procession set off from Fetterangus before travelling through Old Deer, Stuartfield, Clola and Hatton.
This year the run was held in aid of two local charities – Pancreatic and Bowel Cancer (HBP) at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, and the Saltoun Surgery Equipment Fund in Fraserburgh.
Meanwhile at Aden Country Park in Mintlaw, more than 80 classic cars lined up for Drive It Day, organised by the Garioch Vehicle Restoration Society.
The event – which began at Aberdeen Beach Esplanade at 9.30am – commemorated the 64 cars which set off from London in 1900 on a thousand mile trial around the country.
Cars from through the ages including a Ferrari, Triumphs, Minis and a Lotus Elan drew the crowds as they lined up on display in the courtyard from noon.
Last night Linda Bolger from the Friends of Aden Park group described the event as a “fantastic day”.
“We had 80 cars and it was manic,” she said. “How we managed to get them all into the court I have no idea.
“A lot of the people hadn’t been to Aden before and it shows there is something for everyone at the park. It’s not just a country park – we have heaps of events coming up.”
