Police are trying to trace a driver who stopped his vehicle near a north-east outdoor swimming pool and spoke to a young girl.
The man is understood to have been driving a “large black Vauxhall car” which was seen in the area of High Shore leading to Tarlair swimming pool near Macduff.
The incident happened at around 1.30pm this afternoon.
A spokesman for the police said: “At this time the male driver of this vehicle stopped and spoke to a young girl.
“Although no approach was made to the 10-year-old, who was sitting on a bench near friends, and the incident may have been entirely innocent, officers would like to speak to the driver of the vehicle to establish the circumstances.”
The man has been described as short, of slim build with short spikey hair.
Officers have said the driver spoke with an accent, possibly Eastern European, and was wearing a black and yellow striped shirt with dark jeans. He is understood to be in his late 20s or early 30s.
The spokesman added: “We would appeal for the driver to make contact with us or anyone who has information about the driver to call us on 101 or the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
