A north-east charity will launch a new set of relaxation classes for cancer sufferers in Deeside this week.
Complementary therapist Michele Leil will be leading the sessions for Clan Cancer Support at its newly opened centre in Scott Skinner Square, Banchory.
Open to anyone affected by cancer, the informal classes will offer tips and adivce on how to use relaxation and visualisation techniques at home to reduce stress, anxiety and relieve tension.
They start on Friday and will run fortnightly, from 12.30pm-1.30pm until July 8.
Ms Leil said: “Relaxation classes have proved hugely popular at our other centres in the north-east and we are pleased to be extending this service to our new centre in Banchory.
“Learning self-help techniques to help cope with the stress of a cancer diagnosis or treatment can have a big impact on well-being and promote better sleep.”
Gemma Powell, Clan’s area services co-ordinator, said: “We are delighted to be introducing this service to our new centre in Banchory.
“Living with a cancer diagnosis brings with it a wide range of emotions and learning self-help techniques to cope with stress levels can be hugely beneficial, while also improving sleep quality.
“There has been increased demand for relaxation classes at our centres throughout the north-east, making this provision even more important.
“This is a natural step for us to take in Banchory and I would encourage anyone interested to get in touch and book their place as spaces are limited.”
