Police in Aberdeen have arrested a 15-year-old boy following a bomb scare yesterday evening.
Officers in the city had to call the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit from Edinburgh at 9.15pm last night after the discovery of a suspicious item in a property in the Sheddocksley area.
One male has been detained in connection to the incident, but officers are still on the scene at Springfield Road, between Provost Fraser Drive and Ythan Road waiting for the snows to clear in order to carry out a ground search.
Springfield road is expected to reopen before lunchtime.
Last night a police spokesman said: “On arrival police found an item located at the premises and as a result an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit from Edinburgh was requested to attend.
“They have since stood down.
“A cordon is currently in place around the immediate vicinity of the building.
“There is no immediate threat to the wider community and no requirement to evacuate any residents.
“One male is currently detained in relation to the incident.”
UPDATE: Springfield Road reopened at 11.20.
