A 54-year-old man remains in hospital in Aberdeen after being hurt in a “particularly upsetting” attack at the weekend.
Police are hunting three men in connection with the assault which happened on Mastrick’s Willowpark Crescent, close to North Anderson Drive.
Officers have urged anyone who saw the men, in their late teens to early twenties, ito come forward.
Emergency services attended at around noon yesterday and police officers sealed off a large area as an investigation got underway.
The injured man was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by ambulance.
Detective Sergeant Martyn Thomson, who is leading the inquiry, said: “The incident involved a man in his fifties sustaining injuries following an altercation with three other men.
“He remains in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for observation of his injuries, which are thankfully non life-threatening.”
He added: “This is a particularly upsetting incident given it has happened in broad daylight and while people are enjoying the bank holiday weekend.”
DS Thomson said officers were seeking three men in their late teens to early twenties wearing dark clothing.
He added: “I would urge anyone who saw these men or who has any information about this incident to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
