An award-winning restaurant has become involved in a new scheme teaching young entrepreneurs how to cash in their chips.
Calum Richardson, owner of The Bay in Stonehaven, is collaborating with a European Exchange Programme, Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs, to share his knowledge and passion for the fish and chip industry.
Aspiring entrepreneur from Brussels, Simona Ferrulli, will be joining Mr Richardson to learn all about the management of a thriving takeaway business, how to supervise staff and create genuine relationships with customers and suppliers.
Mr Richardson said: “Through all of my work with The Bay, I do everything I can to try to change the stereotypical, and often negative, image of the fish and chip industry and encourage people to see it as a proper business.
“By taking part in this European Exchange Programme, I feel like I am helping to spread the word a little further about the quality of Scottish fish and chips and our industry.
“This will also show the benefits of running your own business. I can’t wait to get started!”
Ms Ferrulli responded: “I feel incredibly excited about my upcoming time at The Bay and I’m eager to really soak up as much knowledge as possible.
“I feel that Calum at The Bay will be the perfect mentor for this.
“I am so grateful for the opportunity and I am ready to embrace my new challenge and immerse myself into the fish and chip world.”
The Bay won the prestigious best chipper in Britain award in 2013.
