Relatives of a climber who went missing over two months ago in the Highlands have been left “overwhelmed” by people’s kindness throughout their ordeal.
61-year-old Jim Robertson was reported missing after failing to return from a trip to the Cairngorms to celebrate his birthday in March.
Despite extensive efforts to find Mr Robertson by the Braemar Mountain Rescue Team, there has still been no trace of the experienced mountain climber.
His family believe he died on March 2 on Ben Macdui, a mountain near to where he was staying on the Mar Lodge Estate.
They have raised nearly £12,000 for Braemar MRT as searches continue in the Cairn Toul, Ben Macdui and Garbh Choire areas.
Mr Robertson’s daughter, Lynn, wrote on her Just Giving page: “There are no words to express our feelings of gratitude towards all of those who have been involved in the search thus far.
“We are hoping BMRT recover our dad’s body and bring him home to us. Once we have him home, we can say our goodbyes and return our dearest dad to the hills, where he belongs.
“We only wish our dad could see just how much has been done for him. He would be so amazed and deeply moved.”
Mr Robertson’s wife Liz thanked all of those who have comforted her family during this difficult time.
She added: “Despite the tremendous efforts of the BMRT and other rescue teams who have taken to the hills to look for Jim, he has still not been found.
“We know the task is enormous, but take so much comfort in knowing the search is ongoing. We are in awe of the people involved and their expertise and strong determination to find Jim.”
