A sporting challenge organised as part of a three-day celebration of beer will return to the north-east in June.
The Midsummer Beer Happening will aim to attract a field of cyclists willing to take on a 70-mile course from Stonehaven, over the Cairn o’ Mount and back.
More than 200 people took part in 2015’s festival of beer, food and music at Stonehaven’s Baird Park.
And this year organiser Robert Lindsay is hoping that bikers take up the option of one of two courses specifically designed for the event.
In addition to the normal 70-mile route, a 52-mile course has been planned to take in just the Cairn o’ Mount.
“The only thing not on the table for cyclists is a choice to ‘not do’,” Mr Lindsay said.
“Both are brilliant courses over some of the most stunning scenery the Mearns has to offer – and, yes, it can be a real challenge.
“But these days, with cycling one of the fastest growing sports in the country, more and more cyclists are looking for bigger and better challenges.
“Well, here they are. Come and have go.”
Mr Lindsay added that riders had already been inquiring about the return of the Happening.
He said: “To add to the attraction, this year we will also be offering a handsome trophy for the winner to take home and treasure.”
The cycle challenge will be held on Saturday, June 18.
The Happening festival runs for three days from Thursday, June 16.
