The Tories have sealed the Aberdeenshire West with Alexander Burnett taking the constituency from the SNP’s Dennis Robertson.
It is the first time ever a Conservative candidate has won the seat.
The SNP’s Dennis Robertson was the first blind MSP to be elected to the Scottish Parliament.
He won the Aberdeenshire West seat from the Liberal Democrats in 2011 but could not hold on in 2016, losing out to the Conservatives.
Mr Robertson, 59, used his time as an MSP to campaign on local issues and disability rights.
But he will perhaps be best remembered for a poignant speech on tackling eating disorders, having lost his own daughter Caroline to complications related to anorexia.
Born in Aberdeen, he was educated at the Royal Blind School in Edinburgh after being registered blind aged 11.
He began a career in social work in 1979 in Greenock, qualifying in 1983, and has worked for disability charities.
Mr Robertson’s departure will also see the exit of Holyrood’s only canine member, his guide dog Mr Q.
