Two lifeboats have been launched to search for a man last seen on the banks of the River Dee in Aberdeen.
Coastguard teams were called to near the Salmon Bothy this morning.
Concerns were raised about the man, understood to be in his 50s, by a member of the public at about 10.50pm last night.
Police are trying to trace where he went next. At the time he was wearing a dark waterproof jacket, blue jeans and was carrying a blue rucksack. It is believed he was in Asda in Garthdee about an hour before being seen next to the river.
He is described as being around 5ft 8, of a medium build, with “straggly” shoulder length dark hair. He was unshaven and is believed to have a local accent.
Three Coastguard rescue teams are also involved in the operation.
A Coastguard spokesman said: “We are assisting the police in the search for a missing person.”
Anyone with information should contact police by phoning 101.
