A man will appear in court today charged in connection with a suspicious package left on a football field in Aberdeen.
The bomb squad was called out to the abandoned rucksack on Golf Road at around 6.30pm on Monday.
A section of the football pitch, close to Mrs Murray’s Cat and Dog Home, was cordoned off for more than six hours while officers dealt with the incident.
Police called the Explosive Ordnance Division (EOD) from Edinburgh to check the item but police said it turned out to be a hoax.
As a result of the incident a 28-year-old man will appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court today charged with breach of the peace.
A police spokeswoman said: “This was a contained incident and was dealt with as quickly as possible.
