The acting head teacher of an Aberdeenshire secondary school has been suspended following a complaint.
Graeme Cowie from Inverurie has been suspended whilst an investigation is carried out according to a letter sent to parents.
In the letter Maria Walker, director of education and children’s services, said: “I am writing to inform you of a change of circumstances within Inverurie Academy.
“Due to an investigation, Mr Cowie, acting head teacher, has been suspended in his role at this time. While this process is ongoing we are unable to discuss detail of the matter.”
Vincent Docherty, the authority’s head of secondary education, said: “We can confirm initial investigations have been made into a complaint against an acting head teacher.
“The member of staff has now been suspended pending a full investigation of the facts and alternative arrangements have been put in place at the school meantime.”
Aberdeenshire Council would not confirm the nature of the allegations.
Graeme Cowie could not be reached for comment.
