A man has been remanded in custody after the bomb squad was called out to deal with a “suspicious device” in Aberdeen.
Police sparked the alert after an unidentified object was found during a routine operation in the Seaton area of the city on Monday night.
Officers later cordoned off a large open area near a set of high rise flats as they waited on the arrival of Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) experts from Edinburgh.
A grey rucksack could be seen lying unattended on the ground behind the cordon and appeared to be the cause of concern for investigating officers.
But when the bomb squad arrived they discovered there was no risk to the public.
A man was later arrested and charged with breach of the peace following the incident.
Donnie Heanan, 28, appeared in private at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday and made no plea.
Sheriff Margaret Hodge remanded Heanan, of no fixed abode, in custody. He is expected to appear in court again within the next eight days.
