An Aberdeen man accused of exposing himself to two schoolgirls yesterday told a court the allegations had torn his family apart.
Allahbaksh Nadaf is on trial at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, accused of the two charges and also one of sexually assaulting another child in a separate incident.
The 30-year-old denies the charges, which are alleged to have taken place over a 14-month period between November 2014 and January this year.
Giving evidence yesterday, Nadaf went to the police last January after his wife recognised him from a CCTV image taken on King Street.
The court heard the image was released by police investigating allegations a man had exposed himself to an eight-year-olg girl in nearby Flourmill Lane on November 24 last year.
Yesterday, Nadaf told the jury he had walked along the street around the time the incident is alleged to have taken place.
But he denied that he had exposed himself to the girl, who gave evidence on Tuesday, and said he did not see her.
He also denied inappropriately touching a 12-year-old girl on November 25, 2014, and exposing himself to a 10-year-old girl on January 15 this year.
Nadaf said he had been forced to live apart from his wife and one-year-old son for several months, as he is subject to a bail condition which meant he was not allowed to be with under-16s unsupervised.
He said he was now living at 597 Clifton Road with a friend, while his wife and son lived in Peterculter.
Earlier on during proceedings, defence agent George Mathers had put forward a motion that there was no case to answer.
Mr Mathers said that the eight-year-old was unable to identify Nadaf from a video parade and had told officers afterwards, “he wasn’t there, not that I remember”.
However, Sheriff Graham Buchanan rejected the motion because he said the girl’s comments did not necessarily mean she had not recognised Nadaf. The trial continues.
