North-east councillors have backed proposals to carry out inspections of tanning salons, nail bars and coffee shops across the region.
Aberdeenshire Council’s health and safety team have included barista machines, sun beds, nail salon chemicals and propane gas canisters among their top priorities for the coming months.
And yesterday the local authority’s infrastructure services committee agreed the health and safety plan for 2016-17.
Council officers will be visiting premises which use these items as part of the programme.
In total, 265 businesses will be visited as part of the “proactive” campaign.
The bill for this year’s health and safety programme – including staffing costs – is expected to run to more than £285,000.
