A new report has shown the fire risk in Aberdeen has decreased during the last year.
In 2015/16, there was one fatality in a fire-related incident in the city, compared with three deaths in 2014/15.
Firefighters are now being called out less to alarms going off and it is estimated that 83% of fires are not spreading.
Duncan Smith, senior officer at the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, presented the findings to the infrastructure committee of Aberdeen City Council this week.
He said: “We are encouraged by the continuing and steady reduction in the number of deliberately-started dwelling fires over the past year.
“Our main risk reduction activity is our free home fire safety visit service and we have continued to refine our approach to identify and support those individuals who we deem to be a higher risk from having a fire in the home.”
Firefighters carried out a total of 2700 home fire safety visits in the last year, up more than ten-fold from 259 in 2012/13.
