Green-fingered north-east school pupils will show off their gardening flair at a top event in the Scots capital next month.
Mill O’ Forest School in Stonehaven and Anna Ritchie School in Peterhead have been chosen to exhibit their award-winning work at Gardening Scotland.
It comes after the primary fives won Keep Scotland Beautiful’s Design a One Planet Picnic Pocket Garden competition.
They will be attending Gardening Scotland – a national outdoor living event – at the Royal Highland Show’s grounds from June 3 to 5.
Pupils will plant their own winning designs on the trip.
The youngsters had been asked to create colourful, pallet-sized gardens using plants that enhance encourage biodiversity.
The Anna Ritchie School’s theme was From Mountains to Sea and included plants found on the Scots coastline, countryside and mountains.
Mill O’ Forest pupils based their design around the motif of Keep Stonehaven Tidy.
Found objects were used to recreate well-known local features and included golf balls from the local golf club alongside depictions of the town’s outdoor pool and iconic war memorial.
The competition was run by Keep Scotland Beautiful and the Garden for Life Forum.
Keep Scotland Beautiful’s Eco-Schools food and environment officer, Eve Keepax, said: “The Design a One Planet Picnic Pocket Garden Competition is a practical and fun way for young people to test their skills and utilise their knowledge in growing
food sustainably.
“This expertise will be useful for life, work and leisure, as well as central to a low carbon future.
“We are delighted that schools had the opportunity to participate. It is exciting to have received so many high quality designs from right across the length and breadth of Scotland.”
