A north-east woman has gone on trial accused of repeatedly biting her former boyfriend.
Debbie Buchan, also known as Robertson, allegedly lashed out at David Hill during an argument.
But the 27-year-old claims she was acting in self-defence after Mr Hill became violent at a cottage in Longhaven, near Peterhead, on February 2.
At Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday, Mr Hill told the jury Robertson attacked him after they started rowing.
He said he sat on her to stop her from moving after an argument turned violent, and that she had bit him “maybe 10 times” to try and force him to get off her.
Mr Hill said any other marks on his body were caused by his dog, who he had been playing with the night before.
He also admitted slapping Robertson and knocking her head off the ground when he rolled off her.
Fiscal depute Anne Macdonald said Mr Hill had been examined by a doctor who reported that he had about 20 fresh human bite marks on his chest and back. But he denied that his chest had been examined.
Mr Hill said he had “exaggerated the truth” about the incident to the police in an effort to pin the blame on Robertson.
The jury were then read a transcript of Robertson’s interview with police in which she claimed the couple were having an argument which turned physical, leading to Mr Hill holding her down, throwing her on a bed, and grabbing her by the neck.
Ms Macdonald also told the jury that a doctor had examined Robertson, and noted she had a head injury and a bruise on her face.
The trial continues.
