A large area of gorse is currently on fire on the cliffs close to a north-east harbour village.
Fire crews were dispatched to the blaze just before 9pm tonight after residents reported huge plumes of smoke rising into the sky on an area of land between Portsoy and Sandend.
One unit from Portsoy and another from Cullen were sent by the fire service to get the fire under control, along with a forestry unit sent from Elgin.
Nobody has been the blaze, however it is understood the area is commonly used by nesting birds.
Fire crews are still at the scene attempting to get the blaze under control.
