Hundreds of disadvantaged north-east school children will take part in an annual day of fun and activities next week.
Nearly 40 primary schools from across Aberdeen city and shire will take part in this year’s KidsOut event at the Scottish Agricultural College (SAC) in Craibstone on June 8.
Some 600 local youngsters will be amongst 25,000 children across the UK and Ireland taking part in the Rotary International-organised initiative.
The event is held to give children with learning difficulties and disabilities a day they will never forget.
Kids will come face-to-face with animals and the emergency services during the fun day.
One of the event’s organisers and KidsOut committee member, Simon Kilkerr, said “The event provides an opportunity for the children to meet pupils from other schools and exchange stories that will make them laugh and relax and enjoy an unforgettable day.”
The vice-chairman of the Oldmeldrum Rotary Club, who is catering convener of KidsOut, added: “The principle activity of KidsOut is to provide a day of fun and activities for all the children that attend from the 38 different schools in Aberdeen and the Shire.
“The day out is organised and financially supported by 17 Rotary Clubs with help from Inner Wheel members based in City and Shire and various local Trusts.
“It provides such a great day out for them. It is the way of rotary – assisting and helping throughout the local community.”
