The volunteer crew from Macduff lifeboat were first paged at 2:35am this morning to assist after the yacht got a sail trapped around its rudder. The four-man crew had to use radar and VHF direction finding to locate the Blue Pegasus about two miles off Whitehills. Macduff Lifeboat requested the assistance of Buckie Lifeboat to act as a brake during the tow back into the harbour area. Initial attempts to take the woman to Whitehills Marina were aborted due to low tide and sea conditions in the area. She was instead towed to Macduff Harbour where she was secured before being taken into the care of the local Coastguard team. Teams stood down at around 5am.
