North-east MSP Ross Thomson has arranged a public meeting to coincide with new community bus routes coming into operation in Aberdeen later this month.
Significant progress has been made to agree timetables and routes for the daytime and evening services, which are due to start on June 13.
The new council-supported routes are being introduced following a campaign launched after operator First Bus announced the withdrawal of the Number 5 and a re-routing of the Number 15 service in the Craigiebuckler and Airyhall areas of the city.
Hundreds of people attended a public meeting in October last year to express concern at the impact on the local community of the changes to the service.
Mr Thomson subsequently won support for his proposal to spend £35,000 for a new evening service and £45,000 for a shuttle bus to support elderly residents to travel to the shops in Mannofield.
The shuttle bus will run through the Lower Deeside area, starting in Peterculter and going through Milltimber, Bieldside and Cults, then up to Airyhall.
It will operate three times a day between 9am and 3pm and will go to the Mannofield shops as well as Asda and Sainsbury’s at Garthdee.
The evening service will run from 7.30pm until midnight, and will be operated by First Bus. Stagecoach will run the daytime service.
Following a previous commitment to do so, Mr Thomson has organised the meeting for 2pm on June 18 at Airyhall Primary School.
