Aberdeen firm Mackie’s is giving away a lifetime supply of ice cream to one lucky fan to celebrate 30 years of their frozen treat.
The company is also going back to its roots by producing a quarter of a million “vintage” tubs to mark the anniversary.
The family behind the brand began farming at Westertown farm, Inverurie in 1912 before taking up ice cream making to huge success in 1986.
The firm now employs 68 people on the farm, including two who have been with Mackie’s since they began making the dessert.
Now the company will celebrate their milestone by giving away a lifetime supply of ice cream to one of their customers signed up to the online ‘Friend of Mackie’s’ site.
Karin Mackie, one of the three current sibling family owners, said: “We hope that the winner will be enjoying our ice cream for at least another 30 years!”
She added: “Our traditional ice cream is often described as a taste of childhood – so we thought it would be fun to enjoy a little nostalgia by bringing out these vintage tubs.
“We’ve made lots of different flavours over the years – but none have stood the test of time quite like our original and best selling traditional.
“30 years on and it is thanks to our customers that we have reached this milestone birthday – and this limited run of tubs is just the beginning of our bumper year of celebrations.”
