The head of an inquiry into the killing of schoolboy Bailey Gwynne has appealed for the public’s help.
A multi-agency review is already under way after the 16-year-old was stabbed to death by a fellow pupil at Cults Academy in Aberdeen last October.
His 16-year-old killer, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was locked up for nine years in April after being found guilty of culpable homicide and carrying weapons.
Now, Andrew Lowe, who has been charged with leading the review, is seeking the help of the public as he looks into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
Mr Lowe, who has been involved in a number of high-profile investigations across the UK including the Hillsborough disaster, is offering to meet with people next Tuesday.
The review has been commissioned by Aberdeen City Council, Police Scotland and NHS Grampian.
It involves a six-point plan which includes investigating the relationship between Bailey and the boy who killed him, prior to the stabbing.
A detailed timeline showing the historical involvement with the killer by all three organisations will also be developed and a review of the way information between the agencies is shared carried out.
The review will also identify any necessary changes and developments needed within the current youth justice system in Aberdeen and share the report with the Scottish Government to determine if there are “wider issues for the whole of Scotland”.
Mr Lowe will be granted unprecedented access to any case files and documentation required from all three bodies, and the investigation team will also be given free rein to interview anyone they wish.
He will also be given the freedom to bring in any professional experts he deems necessary.
The review outcomes are expected to be published in September.
Anyone who wishes to meet with Mr Lowe should contact him by Monday, stating their name, contact details, and the nature of their information in one or two sentences.
Appointments will be granted on a first come-first served basis.
