An Aberdeenshire community group, which puts plenty of colour into their home village, is celebrating after relocating to a perfect new home.
The Meldrum Amenities Improvement Group has moved its headquarters to a site opposite the Oldmeldrum Golf Club, on Kirk Brae.
The organisation, which was formed in 2002, spruces up the village with floral exhibits and Christmas displays throughout the year, thanks to the efforts of its team of volunteers.
The new site is in a handy location within the village and includes two polytunnels.
Prior to the move, they had housed their equipment on local farms.
MAIG is responsible for 280 hanging baskets, 38 half-barrel tubs, 14 barrier baskets and two beehive displays; and also assists other local groups with resplendent summer displays.
Beechgrove Garden host and gardening expert, Jim McColl, officially opened the new premises on behalf of the group.
Andrew McCartney, the group’s chairman, said: “We have gradually built up in the town from a small beginning. Until now, we have been very dependent on the goodwill and kindness, in particular of farms who have allowed us to house equipment.
“We had to relocate. But we have been fortunate that the golf course have been very helpful to us and have allowed us to move our activities to the golf course on a spare bit of ground.
“We have everything on the one site, which is very good because it is right in the town.”
He added: “Already we can see we that there are more people helping us. It has always been a problem to get volunteer helpers. We feel, this year, we have done well.
“We have expanded with the town and, every year, we seem to do that little bit more and add to what we do.”
