A north-east cancer charity has been given a boost of £1,000 by Cala Homes.
The housebuilding company set up a community bursary last year to mark 140 years of working in Aberdeen, and has now given a slice of this to the Maggie’s Centre.
The donation will go towards the Talking Heads workshop – which brings together cancer patients and allows them to discuss hair loss.
The £1,000 will pay for four months’ worth of sessions and also allow the staff to purchase materials.
Emma Gelati, the marketing coordinator at Cala Homes (North), visited the centre to hand over the donation and see firsthand the facilities on offer.
She said: “The local Maggie’s centre in Aberdeen has been an invaluable support for so many families since it opened in 2013.
“It was an absolute pleasure to have the opportunity to visit the centre and see first-hand the great work its staff do.”
The donation was welcomed by the head of the centre Susan Sutherland, who said: “The centre is a warm and welcoming place; a place to find answers to questions and to meet people who understand; and a place to find the hope and strength needed.
“Cala Homes’ donation will help us deliver our Talking Heads session, which helps people to cope with hair loss.
“We’d like to thank them for their wonderful support.”
