Police have named the man who died in a north-east crash last night.
George Wiseman, 49, died in a two-car crash on the A947 between Newmachar and Oldmeldrum on Tuesday night.
The family of Mr Wiseman, who lived in the Whitehills area, said they are devastated by his tragic death.
In a statement issued via Police Scotland, they said: “We are absolutely devastated at the tragic loss of George, a much loved husband to Jenny and father to son Gavin, 20, and daughter Olivia, 16.
“George worked at sea as a fisherman in Whitehills for years with his father Jamsie, and brother Eric, before latterly moving into the oil industry. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
“We would now request that our family be left as we try to come to terms with our sad loss.”
The collision happened at around 3.55pm and involved Mr Wiseman’s silver Mini and a southbound black Toyota Avensis.
The male driver of the Avensis was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact 101.
