Two Ballater hairdressers have joined forces after the havoc wreaked by Storm Frank.
D’Tangled hair salon on Bridge street was devastated by the floods which hit the village on December 30 last year.
However, the distressed owner Dominee Travers’ former colleague and fellow hairdresser Sylvia Adams, took her under her wing while the business was repaired.
Ms Adams owns The Hair Loft, on Ballater’s Netherley Place, which avoided the floods.
Now the arrangement between the pair has been made permanent, almost six months on from the deluge.
D’Tangled has reopened under a new guise of the Deeside Design Studio.
The hairdressers formerly worked together at Ballater Golf Club more than ten years ago.
Ms Travers said: “After the floods, we were all gathered in the town hall and I was absolutely hysterical that my salon had been ruined.
“I didn’t know what to do, Sylvia then hugged me and said come work with us at The Hair Loft. There was absolutely no hesitation, she just offered there and then.
“It honestly feels like we have always worked together.”
Ms Adams added: “It’s the way we’ve always been at The Hair Loft, we are very proud that we have got a family environment going and not just a work one.
“Ballater has always been a strong community, but the floods helped to pull everyone together that little bit more.”
Richard Watts, chairman of the Ballater Business Association, said: “This is an incredible story of two local businesses working together to support each other through a difficult time.
“I am really happy that it has worked out so well for Dominee, Sylvia and the Hair Loft team.”
