Two paintings are believed to have been stolen from the property within the grounds of Candacraig, Strathdon, in July 2001. Police Scotland confirmed that two individuals are expected to appear in court later today in relation to the alleged theft. A 66-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman were both arrested in relation to the incident in the Burgas region of Bulgaria on May 26 this year. The arrest came following the issue of a European Arrest Warrant by Police Scotland and was carried out by Police in Bulgaria. Comedian Billy Connolly bought nearby Candacraig House with his wife Pamela Stephenson in 1998 and sold it for nearly £3m. The 14-acre property was purchased by New York businessman Marc Lino and his Scottish wife, Lynne, in 2014.
