A 58-year-old man is in serious condition today after a car careered off the road and crashed into a north-east house.
The incident happened on the A947 at Plaidy shortly before 8:30pm on Saturday night.
Firefighters, including crews specialised in urban search and rescue, freed the man from the car after it became wedged into the side of the Aberdeenshire home.
Crews were forced to assess the stability of the structure while their colleagues used hydraulic cutting gear to release the man from the damaged vehicle.
After rescuing the casualty from the car, firefighters assisted paramedics who provided him with treatment until an air ambulance reached the scene.
A second man, believed to be 48-years-old, was driving the car at the time of the crash but suffered less serious injuries and is understood to have broken his ankle.
Nobody was inside the home at the time the car crashed into it.
