An Aberdeen man died yesterday after a car he was in came off a road and crashed into a north-east house this weekend.
Emergency services were called to the A947 Banff to Turriff road at Plaidy just before 8.30pm on Saturday night.
Firefighters, including crews specialised in urban search and rescue, freed 58-year-old passenger Leslie Stuart from the car after it became wedged into the side of the property.
Crews were forced to assess the stability of the structure while their colleagues used hydraulic cutting gear to release the man from the damaged vehicle.
After rescuing the casualty from the car, firefighters assisted paramedics who provided him with treatment until an air ambulance reached the scene and transported him to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
However last night police confirmed Mr Lesie died from his injuries.
Sergeant Colin Matheson said: Our thoughts at this time are with the family and friends of those involved.
“We are investigating the circumstances and would like to hear from anyone who saw the collision or saw a red Audi A4 estate car being driven on the A947 between Banff and Plaidy, Turiff around 8.20pm on Saturday.
“If you have any information please call us on 101.”
Nobody was in the home when it was struck by the car, however the 41-year-old driver of the car remains at ARI with a fractured leg.
