Organisers of an annual event celebrating Aberdeen’s links with Japan have revealed it was their biggest celebration yet.
More than 1,000 visitors flocked to Japan Day at Cults Academy earlier this month – five times the number who attended last year.
As well as enjoying martial arts displays, sushi food and an exhibition on Thomas Blake Glover, visitors helped raise a total of £917.80 to support those affected by the recent Kumamoto earthquake, via the Japanese Red Cross Society.
Chief organiser Preston Gan also thanked the volunteers who helped prepare, set up and run the event.
