Daniel Severin pounced on his victims – including attacking one while she was asleep. The 30 year-old denied the crimes during a trial at the High Court in Aberdeen insisting he had consensual sex. But, he was convicted of six rape charges by the jury. Severin was today sentenced by Lord Beckett at the High Court in Glasgow. The judge also ordered he be supervised for a further three years on his release. The rapes against the three women occurred between December 2005 and March 2014 in Aberdeen. In his closing speech to the jury, prosecutor Ian Wallace said Severin’s “pursuit of sex” was such that he did not care if they consented. Police later paid tribute to the victims for their “strength and courage” in coming forward.
