A north-east youngster has seen her name emblazoned on the front of a lorry after winning a design competition.
Pupils at Riverbank Primary School in Tillydrone were asked to design a superhero with a unique ability and primary five student, Bethnay Marr, emerged triumphant after designing a hero with the power to give back kindness.
The competition is run by Colin Lawson, who owns Aberdeen firm Colin Lawson Transport, and aims to help youngsters show their creativity and imagination.
Mr Lawson paid a visit to the school on the last day of term yesterday and allowed the winner to see her name on the front of one of his lorries.
Bethany responded: “I have no idea what gave me the idea of giving back kindness as a superpower.
“But I am very happy to have my name on the front of the lorry.”
Mr Lawson, a former pupil at the school, added: “I’ve been very impressed with the school since I’ve been back, all the kids are well mannered and the staff do a great job.
“We go to lots of schools with this competition and what we like to see is a bit of imagination and creativity.
“There were a lot of good entries from Riverbank Primary, but the comment about giving back kindness was what did it for me, it was the best out of the 340 pupils.”
Linda Macleod, the deputy head teacher, said: “Mr Lawson came in to visit us during our health week when we were raising funds for charity.
“The children took part in a competition and they had to design a superhero.
“We’ve been speaking to pupils recently about the benefits of kindness and it was great to see that Bethnay has been rewarded for coming up with her superhero.”
