Residents of Peterhead have been given an opportunity to express their views on how the future of their town is shaped.
Peterhead Community Council is looking to recruit new members to give the area a voice and ensure that local interests are protected.
Chairman John Brownlee said: “You can be assured that this is not just a talking shop where several disgruntled members of the public gather once a month simply to slag off this, that and the other.
“All our members play a very active role in a wide range of related community affairs.”
The community council has recently been active in the Choose Peterhead project which allowed people to have their say on the future of Drummers Corner and the Marischal Street and Broad Street areas.
It also took part in the Your Voice, Your Choice participatory budget scheme which allocated more than £100,000 to local groups who serve deprived areas in the town.
There are currently 11 members who meet on the third Wednesday of every month in Peterhead Academy.
Mr Brownlee added: “The community council has also taken a very close interest in the redevelopment of Chapel Street and, although the particular group designated to study this aspect of the town is currently in hiatus, it is shortly due to be reformed.
“Other aspects of our involvement include regular liaison with Police Scotland and formal consultee status on planning and licensing matters.
“We are also involved in establishing a dialogue with Nestrans about the proposed new road network to link Fraserburgh and Peterhead with the rest of the country.”
People interested in joining can pick up applications from Buchan House on Peter Street.
