Thunderstorms have been reported across the north-east of Scotland this evening and are forecast to continue through the weekend.
The Met Office has recorded a number of lightning strikes around Ellon and Oldmeldrum, and heavy rainfall sweeping across the north of Aberdeenshire towards Peterhead, with up to 1.2 inches of rain falling over many areas throughout the evening.
And the bad weather is forecast to continue throughout Saturday, with the potential for more thunderstorms across the north-east once more.
A Met Office statement said tomorrow will have “A mainly dry start with some sunshine then scattered showers breaking out again, perhaps with some thunder.”
The rain is set to continue through Sunday as well, with heavy showers and the occasional bright spot forecast.
The Met Office statement read: “Bright with showers on Sunday, the showers lighter and more scattered.
“Sunshine and a few showers Monday and Tuesday.”
