A man has appeared in court in connection with a £46,000 haul of cannabis found in a flat in Aberdeen.
Nikolajus Jachniukas appeared in private at the city’s sheriff court yesterday charged with producing and being in concerned in the supply of the class B drug.
The 29-year-old made no plea when he appeared at a short hearing before Sheriff Morag McLaughlin.
His case was continued for further examination and he was released on bail.
Police recovered £46,000 worth of the drug on Sunday from a flat in the city’s Urquhart Road after receiving “intelligence”.
Detective Constable Kim Duncan, the investigating officer, said: “I would like to thank members of the public for reporting their suspicions, which resulted in us being able to take positive action at the address.
“A significant quantity of controlled drugs have been removed from the streets of Aberdeen and I hope that our actions demonstrate to the public our willingness to listen to their concerns and act upon the intelligence they provide us”.
Jachniukas is expected to return to court in a week.
