Aberdeen is set to add a little extra spice to its restaurant scene with the announcement that the UK’s first burrito bar chain is to open a new restaurant in Union Square.

The popular Mexican restaurant group Barburrito has signed on to open a new premises in the first floor of the shopping centre and it is expected to open as soon as this Autumn.

Ryan Manson, general manager at Union Square, said: “We are pleased to welcome Barburrito to Union Square and I’m sure our customers will be delighted to hear that the centre is once again bringing another restaurant first to Aberdeen City centre.

“With a diverse line up of restaurants, Union Square is a hotspot for new and exciting cuisine within the city. Barburrito, with its mouth-watering menu, will be another fantastic addition to our dining experience for customers and we look forward to its launch in the Autumn.”

Since its launch in 2009, Union Square has quickly established itself as a central part of the city’s retail, dining and leisure offer and continues to successfully attract both new and established retailers and restaurants to Aberdeen.

Other restaurant firsts include a new concept from the Patisserie Valerie group, the first Scottish Byron and Las Iguanas and Aberdeen’s first YO! Sushi.
