Police in Aberdeen have urged residents to be aware that there have been reports of fraudsters operating in the area.
The persons responsible apparently impersonate legitimate organisations and request banking information. They then use this information to acquire funds from the individuals targeted.
Detective Sergeant Craig Currie said: “We would like to remind people that no official body will ever ask you to provide your PIN number and under no circumstances should you provide your PIN number to anyone.
“Should anyone call you or attend at your home asking for financial information please do not provide this without first confirming their identity with the relevant authority. If there is any suspicion or doubt please contact Police Scotland on 101.
“If you have been victim of fraud from persons impersonating official organisations please contact the police.”
