The motorist was driving along Scotstown Road, near Clashieknow estate, when the incident took place at about 5.30pm. Police say they believe he fell ill at the wheel and his car subsequently crashed through nearby railings. Police and ambulance crews are at the scene. Two fire appliances, with nine firefighters on board, were at the scene but were not required. Paramedics are currently treating the injured man. The road has been closed between Scotstown Road and Cardens Knowe.
