A booze-free gig will be held today as part of the Stonehaven Folk Festival.
Music fans from across the country have flocked to the coastal town for the annual event, which includes an array of concerts, dances and fringe events.
Today, a music session at the Stonehaven Community Centre’s Seaview Cafe on Bath Street will be held, which is being sponsored by Aberdeenshire’s Alcohol and Drug Partnership’s south community forum.
The event is named Tea and Scones, Tunes and Songs – An Alcohol Free Session and will include music from John Coletta.
Jean Henretty, chairwoman of the community forum, said: “After last year’s success on the day and many compliments afterwards, we were keen to provide this opportunity again, with the renowned musician John Coletta returning to entertain everyone, in a friendly alcohol-free setting.
“Once again, the ADP’s south forum, which covers south of Aberdeen and Marr, will distribute bags promoting the forum and there will be information about the forum on each table.
“It’s really important to have venues where you can have an enjoyable time and the focus is not on alcohol at all.
“It can be hard for people who are struggling with their relationship with alcohol and want to be sociable, but don’t want to be surrounded by alcohol.
“The event is also another way for use to reach out and raise awareness of addiction and the many ways there are to support people into recovery and to turn their lives around.”
The event will take place from 4pm until 7pm. Entertainment is free and a range of refreshments can be bought at the cafe.
