Runners of all abilities are being urged to sign up for a charity run at an popular park in Aberdeen before all the spaces are snapped up.
The third annual Dandara 5K will take place in Hazlehead Park on Saturday, September 3 and this time round participants are being encouraged to dress as a superhero.
Money raised at the popular event will go to Friends of Hazlehead Park, who work to improve the family favourite venue.
With just eight weeks to go, Peter Best, sales manager at Dandara, urged people to sign up.
He said: “The Friends of Hazlehead is a group of local people who are truly dedicated to protecting and enhancing Hazlehead Park so we’re thrilled to once again to be offering our support to this year’s event.
“Team Dandara will be taking part on the day and we hope to join many other workplaces from across Aberdeen who are looking to take part in a team challenge with their colleagues and enjoy what is always a great day out for people of all ages and running abilities.”
In previous years money raised has contributed to funding the creation of memory paths, the replanting of the Queen Mother Rose Garden, the restoration of the fountain and the revamp of pets corner, which this week welcomed a new pygmy goat.
The event, which is organised by Friends of Hazlehead and Sport Aberdeen, also includes 1K and 2K races for children and a 600m fun run.
Both male and female winners of the 5k will receive £100 prize money and there will be trophies for winners of the children’s races as well as prizes for best fancy dress.
Donald Shaw, chairman of the Friends of Hazlehead, added: “The Dandara 5k and family fun day is a huge celebration of Hazlehead Park, which is regarded by many Aberdonians as the best outdoor space in the city.
“We are so lucky to have this stunning park and events like this really help us raise much needed funds to ensure we can maintain and enhance the area to make it a place where people can enjoy spending time.”
