Ten new jobs have been created in an Aberdeenshire town with the opening of a new store.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony – led by local historian and Inspiring Aberdeenshire award winner Frederick Stewart – was held to mark the opening of the new Co-op at Portlethen’s Leathen Fields.
The shop represents a £500,000 investment by the retail giant.
Store manager, Sharon Cossans, said: “We are thrilled to have made such a significant investment in Portlethen and delighted that we have a fantastic new food store – it is an exciting time for the whole team.
The Co-op has recently donated to Portlethen’s Jubilee Hall.
Two members of the shop’s team have also taken on community pioneer roles in order to increase and foster involvement with the community and activities across the area.
