Years of hard work paid off for hundreds of students yesterday as they picked up their degrees on the final day of the Robert Gordon University’s summer graduations.
Students from the university’s schools of computing science, digital media, engineering, architecture, art and more were all celebrating at the His Majesty’s Theatre in Aberdeen.
And after receiving their degrees, the new graduates joined their friends, families and loved ones for photographs.
But before leaving the theatre, the group was addressed by RGU’s principal, Professor Ferdinand von Prondzynski, who thanked them for their part in the institution’s move to Garthdee.
Prof von Prodzynski said: “To get to where we are today, we have worked hard to establish a partnership between staff and students.
“But we must also thank the partnership that exists between you students and those who have helped you – your friends, your families, your parents, your families, spouses and children, and the others that have suffered along with you over the past few years.
“I must congratulate you all for what you have achieved.
“It is wonderful to celebrate this with you, the work you have done over the past few years has all come together to make this a great occasion for all of us, and I know that all of you will be able to benefit greatly from what you have achieved here today.
“And of course you have helped RGU itself to do great, new things.
“While you have been students here we have moved all our academic provisions to Garthdee, and so we now have on one campus this wonderful community of learning, where we exercise a partnership of students and staff, where we are able to achieve great things.
“We hope that you will take your experiences at RGU with you into the next stages of your lives, graduations are not a farewell ceremony – they are simply the beginning of a new phase in your life as a member of the RGU family.”
